The Devil’s Catalogue
The title of my thesis project is “The Devil’s Catalogue”, and it is a proposal for a book idea. Each image is created as a two-page spread, and consists of everyday scenarios depicting a character who has sold their soul to the devil for strength, power, virility, material goods, wealth, beauty, youth, etc. and the ultimate consequence/price that person pays in hell. This is illustrated through the positive/negative, good/bad, and desire/consequence layout of the illustrations on each page, moving the viewer’s eye from left to right. The goal is explore the grander themes of desire and consequence through the relatable depiction of everyday scenarios.
