Young children cling to the familiar to have the sense of safety and control, same with Alzheimer’s patients’ repetitive behaviors to find familiarity and comfort. In early childhood, children often struggle with logic, which is similar to Alzheimer’s challenges in working with numbers. Ability to roleplay in children is much like the changes in mood and personality of Alzheimer’s patients. Egocentrism is often seen in children, similarly, Alzheimer’s patients lose tracks of things and accuse other people of stealing. Family love and caring help children and Alzheimer’s patients overcome their psychological obstacles. Young children lose their infancy memories during their adolescence like the symptoms of memory loss in Alzheimer’s diseases. Toddlers have poor judgement skills, seen in the missing of conservation (certain properties of an object will remain the same, even if outward qualities change.), similar to the decreased judgement skill in Alzheimer’s patients. Toddler’s missing concept of time is like the confusion of time seen in Alzheimer’s patients. Children often struggle with using language to express their ideas in the early stage, also seen in Alzheimer’s patients’ challenges with words.
