Akela We'll Do Our Best
Tamaracouta Scout Reserve was, until it recently closed, the oldest Scout Reserve on earth, and was home to the honor society “the Knights of Tamara,” of which I am a member. The presence of the Knights at camp was always a positive one, giving everything a layer of mysticism and intrigue. But what if that wasn’t the case for everyone? “Akela We’ll Do Our Best” uses Boy Scouts ephemera to interpret my experience at Tamaracouta Scout Reserve, to question where we draw the line between fraternity & cult, tradition & hazing.
