Physical beauty and body adornment is a form of self-empowerment for womxn but also a way to remain trapped in societal standards. As a result, the beauty parlour becomes a space that allows for that duality to co-exist.

This work uses liminal spaces as metaphors to explore what it means to identify with and have a sense of belonging to a place and time in an increasingly globalized world.
