Chinese five elements in daily life were regarded as the foundation of everything in the universe and natural phenomena. They have their own characters, and they can generate or destroy one other. My work explores the interactions between the five elements of nature-wood, fire, earth, metal, and water. The doctrine of five elements describes two cycles, a generating and creation cycle. I use matches, shells, and moss to explore the effect of the Inter-promoting cycle by abstracting the five elements and looking for the “primitive state” of nature, and guide people to re-recognize the “authenticity” of the world.
